Iraq-Afghanistan Conference, March 2013
The Iraq and Afghanistan wars have inspired a large number of passionate and compassionate people to respond to the great need in these worn-torn and conflict-ridden areas of the world. While great work is being done, it is often within something of a vacuum as these small nonprofits overcome great odds to make a difference. Part of the mission of the Karadah Project is to create better linkages between these organizations. Responding to the need to be better networked, The Karadah Project developed, facilitated, and hosted the Iraq-Afghanistan Conference in Elk Horn-Kimballton, Iowa in March 2013. The Conference allowed organizations and people to work toward better networking our efforts for greater outcomes.
Charlotte (Charlie) M. Ponticelli, former Deputy Under Secretary for International Labor Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor and Senior Coordinator for International Women’s Issues at the U.S. Department of State, and Cindy Fogleman, Executive Director/US Liason at Iraqi Children Foundation were both participants in the Conference and served as keynote speakers during our 3 day event in Iowa.
